Add a Signature to a PDF: Place, Resize and Check the Download
Sign PDF adds a visible signature image to selected locations in a PDF. You can draw, type or select an image, then reuse that signature on multiple pages. Before starting, check whether the recipient accepts a visible signature or requires a particular signing service or certificate.
Place a signature and save it
- Open Sign PDF and choose the PDF. Wait for the page preview and signature controls.
- Choose Draw, Type or Upload image. Draw with a pointer, enter a name, or select a PNG/JPEG file.
- Select Use this signature. A movable signature box appears over the current page.
- Use ‹ and › to reach the intended page. Drag the box onto the signature line and resize it using the corner handle.
- Select Place on this page. Confirm that the “Placed in … spot(s)” count increases. Moving the box alone does not save a placement.
- Repeat the positioning and placement step for other required locations.
- Select Sign & download to save
signed.pdf. Open the download and inspect every signed page.
The placement count represents saved positions, not different signatures. This tool applies the currently selected signature image to all saved positions when exporting. If you change the signature, use Clear placements and rebuild the locations deliberately.
Practise with a labelled PDF
Download sample-a.pdf, a two-page document labelled A1 and A2. Use a fictional name such as “Sample Signer,” navigate to page 2 and place it in an empty area. Export, then check:
- The output still contains both pages.
- The visible signature is on A2 at the intended size and location.
- A1 has not gained an unintended signature.
- The signature does not cover the sample’s existing text.
This is a manual practice exercise. The site’s published sample check record does not include a signing result, so it should not be read as certification of signature placement.
Choose an image that will print clearly
Draw uses the drawing pad. Make enough room for the full name; if the stroke looks wrong, clear the pad and redraw before using it.
Type renders the name into an image using fonts available on the device. Long names can be clipped by the signature canvas, and the appearance can differ between devices. Inspect both ends of the name before placing it.
Upload image accepts PNG and JPEG. It does not remove the background or crop the picture around the ink. A photo of white paper can cover the underlying form with a white rectangle. Prepare a tightly cropped image, or use a transparent PNG when the document underneath must remain visible.
Correct a misplaced signature
Use Clear placements to remove all recorded locations and start placing again; it is not an undo for just the last location. The movable preview box is the current candidate position, not a full preview of every saved mark. Check the placement counter and review the downloaded PDF.
If the document will not load, test with the public sample and check that your source opens in a PDF reader. This interface has no password prompt for encrypted files. Keep the original file so you can retry without adding another signature onto a previously exported copy.

FAQ
Does this create a certificate-backed digital signature?
No. Sign PDF adds a visible signature image. It does not establish the signer's identity or provide a certificate audit trail. Check the recipient's required signing method.
Why is my signature visible in the preview but absent from the download?
Moving the signature box only positions it. Select Place on this page to record the location, check that the placement count increases, then select Sign & download.
Will a photographed signature automatically have a transparent background?
No. An uploaded image keeps its background. Use a suitable transparent PNG or the Draw option if a white rectangle would cover document text.
