Frequently asked questions
Does it keep the original layout?
Yes. The translated text is drawn back into each line's original position, so images, columns and formatting are preserved. Because translations can run longer, text is shrunk to fit, and busy backgrounds may show faint cover marks.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
The text is extracted in your browser and sent to an AI service to be translated. The PDF file itself is rebuilt locally and is never stored on our servers.
Which languages can it translate to?
You can pick from common languages or type your own, such as Thai or Polish. The rebuilt page can render Latin, Cyrillic, Greek and CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) scripts.
Can it translate scanned PDFs?
Only PDFs with real, selectable text translate directly. For scans or image-only pages, run our OCR tool first to add a text layer, then come back and translate the result.
Is it safe for confidential documents?
For sensitive files, note that the extracted text is sent to a third-party AI service for translation. Avoid uploading highly confidential content if that processing isn't acceptable to you.
